Cladding experts Intex Systems will improve the view for Rotherham residents by cladding the steel sheet piling used for flood defences as part of the new Forge Island development.
The site, by the side of the canal at one end of the development, is a public open space close to the tow-path and the developers wanted to enhance the appearance of the industrial steel needed to raise the height of the river bank to protect the area from flooding.
Intex director Callum Connor said: “We’re normally cladding buildings, but this is a great way to show how cladding can add to an overall scheme and improve the look of an area quickly.
“It’s also great to do a project for main contractor Eric Wright Construction as they transform this crucial part of the city.”
The project is just one of a clutch of new contracts getting underway in July 2020 as the Rotherham-based firm goes from strength to strength.
Also starting this month are projects in Liverpool, Sheffield, York and Wakefield as the construction industry starts to return to normal after the enforced slow-down during spring.
